Commerz Real buys 80MW wind-and-solar pair

Commerz Real is buying an operational 50MW solar farm and development-stage 30MW wind project in Spain to turn them into a hybrid renewables project.

The German financial services firm is buying the assets for its Klimavest impact fund. The assets are set to share a grid connection so the solar farm can supply power to the grid during the day and the wind project can supply power at other times.

The seller is a 90:10 partnership between Spanish fund manager Everwood Capital and project developer Abei Energy. The solar farm was commissioned in 2021, and the wind farm is due to complete in 2027.
