Crown plans 4.5GW floating wind in Celtic Sea

The Crown Estate is planning to award sites for 4.5GW of floating wind projects in the Celtic Sea in its fifth offshore wind leasing round.

The organisation has today revealed fresh details of the leasing round following a consultation period that started in July. It plans to award support for sites in three project development areas, with potential for 1.5GW each. This is up from the 4GW it has previously indicated.

The Crown Estate also said no bidder would be able to win a lease in more than one of these areas. Further details are due by the end of 2023.
