CWP halts Scottish project over windfall tax

UK developer Community Windpower is halting work on its 308MW Sanquhar II wind project in Scotland after an 80% surge in development costs.

The company said development costs have risen from £300m to £550m over the last two years because of inflation and the UK's windfall tax on renewable energy projects. This means the project cannot generate the return on capital that the developer needs to cover bank funding requirements.
