ECO STOR to build 600MWh of storage in Germany
Norway-headquartered ECO STOR is to build a 600MWh battery storage facility in Saxony-Anhalt in Germany at a cost of around £250 million.
The project - which is expected to be completed in 2025 - will be able to supply more than 31,000 households with electricity for 24 hours.
The Saxony-Anhalt site was chosen due to its proximity to a major electrical substation.
In October last year, ECO STOR closed a NOK 100 million (€8.8 million) investment round. Existing shareholders such as Agder Energi, the largest shareholder in ECO STOR, and Covalis Capital and Klaveness Marine, all participated in the investment round. They were joined by Farvatn Capital and Klaveness Marine as new shareholders.
