Ireland backs 148MW wind in "disappointing" tender

The Irish government has backed just three wind projects totalling 148MW in the third tender round of its Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS).

Solar projects totalling almost 500MW also won support, but Wind Energy Ireland said this was a "disappointing" result after the RESS 2 tender in 2022 where 1.9GW of wind and solar projects were awarded support. The average strike price for winning RESS 3 projects rose to €100.47/MWh, which is up 2.6% from the average in RESS 2.

The winning wind projects were the 101MW Yellow River, the 43.2MW Farranrory and the 4.2MW Bradan developments.
