Europe’s wind industry has just been through the worst year for installations for seven years - and, in onshore wind alone, the worst year for a decade. This is according to WindEurope statistics.
However, 2018 was also the second-best year on record for asset financings at new wind farms in Europe (€26.7bn) with a record level of capacity backed (16.7GW). This shows that demand from investors is still strong.
