Origin shareholder rejects $9.9bn Brookfield buyout

Origin Energy's largest shareholder AustralianSuper has rejected a $9.9bn takeover of the Australian utility by a Brookfield-led consortium.

Pension fund giant AustralianSuper owns a 13.68% stake in Origin but said the offer was "substantially below" its estimate of the long-term value of the company. The takeover bid requires 75% support from shareholders at a meeting scheduled for 23rd November.

Origin operates around 700MW of wind capacity in its 7GW generation portfolio.
