Port of Rotterdam plans 1GW hydrogen plant
The Port of Rotterdam Authority is developing an 11-hectare site in the port's Maasvlakte area to accommodate up to 1GW of green hydrogen production capacity.
The authority said it was developing the site before the Dutch government holds the IJmuiden Ver offshore wind tender this year, because this site could answer the needs of bidders that want to pair their offshore wind capacity with green hydrogen production.
It said several bidders in that tender had already expressed their interest in the site. Up to 2GW of offshore wind capacity that wins support in the IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Zone Beta tender could be commissioned by 2028.
