Recharge Industries to take over Britishvolt

Australia-based Recharge Industries, a portfolio company of Scale Facilitation, is to take over troubled battery technology company Britishvolt.

Earlier this year, Britishvolt went into administration with the result that approximately 200 employees were made redundant.

Under plans presented by Recharge Industries, the Britishvolt will develop the UK’s first Gigafactory – which will produce batteries on a large-scale – creating “thousands of green, skilled and local jobs that will drive local and national benefits”, Recharge Industries said.

Recharge Industries is currently developing what it describes as Australia’s first large-scale lithium-ion cell production facility.
