Siemens Gamesa nets 1.4GW UK order

ScottishPower Renewables has placed a firm order with Siemens Gamesa for 95 turbines for the 1.4GW East Anglia 3 offshore wind project in UK waters.

East Anglia 3 is the second of four projects that ScottishPower Renewables is developing at the 2.9GW East Anglia Hub complex in the North Sea. Installation at East Anglia 3 is due to begin in the second quarter of 2026 and complete by the end of 2026.

Marc Becker, offshore CEO at Siemens Gamesa, said: "In these challenging times, it is encouraging to sign this firm order with ScottishPower Renewables as we jointly move to a more financially sustainable wind industry, but we need the UK government to fully recognise that renewable energy, especially wind generation, is now on the same level of importance as oil and gas and requires similar levels of support to ensure it delivers what the UK needs to reach crucial net zero targets."
