Steel giant joins 554MW Brazilian tie-up

Brazilian developer Casa dos Ventos has formed a joint venture with Indian steel giant ArcelorMittal's Brazilian arm to develop a 554MW wind project in Bahia state.

ArcelorMittal announced today that it was entering a joint venture, in which it is set to own 55% and Casa dos Ventos is set to own 45%, to develop the Babilonia project. ArcelorMittal will procure this power via a 20-year power purchase agreement with the joint venture company.

Casa dos Ventos ordered Vestas turbines for the Babilonia project last month.
