Tesla to open Shanghai 'Megapack' factory

Tesla is to open a factory in Shanghai that will be capable of producing 10,000 of its Megapack products per year, which is equal to around 40GWh of energy storage.

The company will begin construction of the factory in the third quarter of this year and start production in the second quarter of 2024.

Each Megapack unit can store more than 3 MWh of energy, enough to power an average of 3,600 homes for one hour.
