Texas bills threaten wind investment

Lawmakers in US state Texas are debating legislation that would threaten investment in wind and solar projects, experts have warned.

The Republican-dominated state legislature is considering a bill that would impose new environmental reporting requirements on renewable energy projects, but not other types of power plants. The legislation would also require operational projects to apply for the new environmental permits.

In addition, the state is considering legislation to provide $10bn to back the construction of 10GW of gas-fired power generation capacity.
