Tory MPs demand end to UK onshore wind ban

Twenty-one Conservative MPs have called on the UK government to end its de facto ban on new onshore wind farms in the UK.

The MPs are seeking an amendment to the UK's Energy Bill that would remove the existing planning restriction that gives objectors strong powers to block projects. The amendment was tabled by Alok Sharma, who chaired the COP26 climate conference in the UK in October and November 2021.
