US offshore wind needs $36bn ports investment
US ports require $36bn of upgrades so they do not hinder the rollout of 110GW offshore wind in US waters by 2050, research has shown.
The US Business Network for Offshore Wind has reported that port infrastructure is one of the most significant bottlenecks hindering the growth of US offshore wind.
It said the US needs investment in 110 port development sites across the east coast, west coast and the Gulf of Mexico; but that only $2.5bn of the necessary $36bn has been invested so far.
