US opens bidding for 3.7GW Gulf of Mexico sites

The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is due to open bidding today for three sites in the Gulf of Mexico with potential for nearly 3.7GW of offshore wind capacity.

The three seabed sites off the coast of Louisiana and Texas are:

  • Lake Charles (102,480 acres with potential for 1.24GW)
  • Galveston 1 (102,480 acres with potential for 1.24GW)
  • Galveston 2 (96,786 acres with potential for 1.18GW)
