US regulators back $3bn grid link
A company owned by US billionaire Philip Anschutz has won final backing from US regulators to build a $3bn transmission project between California and Wyoming.
TransWest Express secured approval from the US Bureau of Land Management yesterday for the 3GW 732-mile TransWest Express Project, which is set to transport electricity produced by wind farms in Wyoming to energy-hungry California. These wind projects include the over-3GW Chokecherry & Sierra Madre onshore wind project, which is being developed by Anschutz's Power Company of Wyoming.
