Vestas ends Q1 with 2.8GW order rush

Turbine maker Vestas finished the first quarter of 2023 strongly by announcing orders totalling 2.8GW in countries around the world.

The biggest deals included a 1.3GW from Brazilian developer Casa dos Ventos for two huge projects in Brazil, and a 370MW order from US utility Xcel Energy for two repowering projects, in Minnesota and North Dakota. Vestas was also named preferred supplier for a floating wind project in South Korea.

The company announced the following deals:

  • Casa dos Ventos orders turbines totalling 1.3GW for two projects in Brazil.
  • An undisclosed firm named Vestas as preferred supplier for a 495MW floating wind project in South Korea.
  • Xcel Energy placed a 370MW order for two US repowering projects.
  • Genneia placed a 162MW order for the La Elbita project in Argentina.
  • YPF Luz placed a 155MW order for the General Levalle project in Argentina.
  • Grupo Vapat placed a 140MW order for three projects in Spain.
  • Vibrant Energy ordered 130MW turbines for a project in India.
  • Juwi ordered turbines totalling 63MW for five projects in Germany.
