Work starts on dynamic power-to-X plant

ABB, Skovgaard Energy, Topsoe and Vestas have started building a 'dynamic' power-to-X plant in the Lemvig municipality of Denmark's West Jutland region.

The project is set to create around 5,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually using electricity generated by 50MW of solar and 12MW of wind capacity. ABB said it has dubbed the project 'dynamic' because it produces green ammonia when the sun shines and wind blows, but can also reduce production when neither is present. This is different from power-to-X plants that are connected directly to electricity grids.

Production is due to start in early 2024.
