Finance Quarterly - Europe's PPA Revolution
On 10th July, we published our latest Finance Quarterly report, which includes a focus on one of the key themes that we'll discuss at our Financing Wind Europe conference in London on 1st November.
About this report
This report includes all of the deals data that you are used to in a Finance Quarterly: we highlight all of the biggest project M&A, project finance, corporate M&A and power purchase deals from the previous three months; as well as a focus on all of the latest activity in the offshore sector.
In addition, this report includes a focus on one of the key questions that we'll discuss at our Financing Wind Europe conference in London on 1st November. Why have countries in Scandinavia done so well at securing corporate PPAs in the last year, and what can other countries learn from it?
PPAs are set to play a key role for investors looking to take schemes to financial close in an environment where European governments are reining in financial support for the wind sector. Indeed, the European Union introduced changes to its renewable energy directive in June 2018 that will challenge EU member states to identify barriers to corporate PPAs and then seek to remove them. Is Scandinavia a model that other countries can follow; or is it the beneficiary of a unique set of climate and regulatory factors?
In addition, this report includes an article on the growth of the global data centre market, which is a key driver of demand in the corporate PPAs sector.
