Joost Samsom
Joost Samsom is partner and co-founder of Voltiq. He has 22 years of experience in the development, acquisition and management of renewable energy projects and companies. Joost is an expert in wind and solar project development as well as in M&A transactions. He has been leading numerous landmark transactions at Voltiq such as the 165 MW Belwind offshore wind transaction, the 400+MW Chile Solar sale to Enel and EDF, and the 70 MW Campo Palomas wind transaction.
Before co-founding Voltiq in 2009, Joost was Executive Board Member at the renewable energy branch of global retail and distribution company SHV. Prior to working for SHV, Joost worked for Dutch utility Nuon/Vattenfall as Senior Development Manager of the Nuon International Renewables Projects team. From 2002 – 2005 he was responsible for Nuon’s investments in Spain based in Seville.
Joost has served as an executive and non-executive director on the board of (renewable) energy companies in the United Kingdom, Germany, Chile, Mexico and The Netherlands. He has in-depth knowledge of wind, solar, hydro and biomass energy. Joost is fluent in Dutch, English, Spanish and German.
